Oppo SuperVOOC 3.0 With 80W Fast Charging to Make Its Debut in 2021, Charges 4000mAh Battery in 15 Mins
OPPO had earlier become the first company to introduce insanely fast charging speeds of nearly 50W when it had unveiled the OPPO Find X Lamborghini edition. Since then a lot of companies have emulated the same to introduce super-fast charging speeds in their respective smartphones. Now OPPO has reportedly taken it a step further with its new 80W charging technology that is called Super VOOC 3.0. The Chinese smartphone giant is said to use this technology in its smartphones from 2021.
As per a tipster on Weibo, this new charging technology will be able to fully charge a 4,000mAh battery in 15 minutes. That is an insanely fast amount of time to juice up a battery and it does come with its own set of complications. For instance, to use so much power to boost the battery a heat dissipation solution must be in place. Apart from that, such a rapid charging solution will adversely affect the battery in the long run. OPPO has made no official claim about this charging solution.
OPPO’s current standard for charging is called Super VOOC 2.0 which is currently present on the likes of the Reno Ace on which it debuted. Recently the company’s latest flagship Find X2 Pro, Find X2 and Reno Ace 2 have also implemented this technology. Super VOOC 2.0 uses an amped-up 65W charging solution which is said to juice up a battery to full capacity in about 30 minutes. Realme has used the same technology on its Realme X50 Pro in India and called it Super Dart charging.
Vivo sub-brand iQOO has also made use of fast charging on its smartphone called the iQOO 3 which supports 50W charging. However, OPPO is just not in the wired fast charging game but also wireless. It had unveiled its 30W Wireless VOOC charger last year which is said to juice up a battery in about 80 minutes.
